high level meeting finalize strategy
for construction of 1000 schools in
AJK and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Earthquake Reconstruction,
Rehabilitation Authority (ERRA) high
level meeting has finalized the
strategy to complete 1000 schools on
a fast track basis in Azad Kashmir
and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, destroyed in
8th October 2005
earthquake.
Presiding the meeting, Earthquake
Reconstruction, Rehabilitation
Authority (ERRA) Deputy Chairman
Maj. Gen. Muhammad Azeem Asif has
shared the information that out of
Prime Minister announced Rs. 8
billion, the federal government is
in process to release Rs. 3.5
billion amounts for the 500 schools
completion in AJK and KPK in six
month.
During the meeting Deputy Chairman
said that all those schools which
are at advance stage or their
physical progress is 50 per cent
will be completed within six month
from the Prime Minister Education
package.
He said that the rest of 500 schools
will be completed with cost of
Rs.4.5 billion by the December 30,
2015. At the occasion he directed
concerned District Reconstruction
Unites of AJK and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
to prepare list of schools
pertaining to their area,
performance of contractor and the
priority indicated by the public
representatives.
He also directed the concerned wings
of ERRA to foster confidence,
liabilities of the contractors
pertaining to the selected schools
should be cleared with a view to
complete schools at fast track
basis. Deputy Chairman also directed
concerned officers of project and
consultants to make arrangements for
the speedy operation.
Deputy Chairman also thanked Prime
Minister Nawaz Sharif for approval
of Rs. 3 billion counterpart funding
to the Chinese companies for the
completion of AJK city development
projects. He was confident that the
funds will be released by the
concerned ministry within couple of
days for the completion of projects
in Muzaffarabad, Bagh and Rawalakot
cities of Azad Kashmir.
